NLSA Referee development sessions

The NLSA's referee committee in combination with our CSA certified
instructors will be offering a series of referee development sessions
between January and March this year. They will be held every two weeks
on Wednesday evenings from 7-9 pm at the new training room in the
Glacier, Mount Pearl. These sessions are open to all referees, but are
designed mainly for those referees who have been refereeing at a senior
level for at least a year. They will also be of great interest to
assessors. They will deal with a variety of topics that go beyond the
instruction provided in the entry level courses. There is no cost.

These sessions offer a great opportunity to discuss refereeing, develop
refereeing skills, and to learn techniques that will help in your
refereeing in the coming season. They are also excellent preparation for
referees looking at promotion to higher levels.

The preliminary list of topics includes duties of the 4th official,
advanced AR skills, match control, advanced positioning, dealing with
confrontation, and recognizing challenges. we also hope to include a
laws of the game Q&A, an offside session, and a practical/ fitness
component.

The first session will take place on Wednesday, January 18th starting at
7 pm. Participants should bring along a copy of the law book, plus paper/
pencil for note-taking. If you ave any questions on these sessions,
please contact Dave Liverman
